Who is JEKA?

JEKA is a non-profit organisation that aims to facilitate the organisation of sustainable travel for groups of young people and/or people with specific needs, in order to offer everyone a real perspective on the discovery of new horizons, other cultures and oneself.

Founded in 1960, the association has always been convinced that a group of people, and even society as a whole, can take care of themselves, provided that the right facilitators are available.

JEKA wishes to become this facilitator for each group, as soon as one of the following difficulties hinders the regular organisation of a trip:

    • A financial constraint

    • A physical handicap

    • A psychological, mental or cognitive disability

    • A particular medical need

    • Lack of experience

    • Lack of logistical capacity

As a non-profit organisation, JEKA has always promoted humanism as one of its core values. Volunteers and employees alike do their utmost to make it possible for our clients to travel and to create unforgettable memories for all participants.

Our strategy

 

In order to achieve its social commitment, JEKA opts for the strategy of "participatory travelling".

We design our "participatory travelling" around 4 essential axes:

    • By working as much as possible with volunteers

      Both in the day-to-day operation and at the destination, we work as much as possible with volunteers in order to provide the groups with everything they need.
      JEKA wants to be involved in the volunteers' stay by constantly seeking a good balance between their free time and the tasks they have to perform for the groups. 
      In return, we expect volunteers to contribute to the well-being of our groups through the tasks they are assigned.


    • By offering a comprehensive package for all types of groups outside our target audience 

      By choosing to travel with JEKA, you contribute financially to the organisation of the trips of our target group, thus enabling everyone to travel the world. Whether you are a company, a sports club, a leisure club, a group of friends, or other, you can count on JEKA to organise tailor-made trips. Our travel offers are perfectly in line with the standards of the Belgian tourist market. The trips you will make with us will offer you the pleasure of exploring the most beautiful corners of the world and at the same time support JEKA groups financially. We translate this into the slogan "Your journey offers other(s) perspectives".



    • By participating in the life of the local communities at the destination

      JEKA also wants to be socially and economically involved at the destination, by promoting the contribution of local suppliers and employees. This helps to develop the local economy and allows us to organise more sustainable trips.

    • By developing an eco-responsible participation

      In fulfilling its mission, JEKA is constantly seeking to improve the way it operates in order to minimise its social and environmental impact. On the one hand, by ensuring full self-financing of the association; on the other hand, by continuing to organise more environmentally responsible trips and by applying this philosophy to its overall operation.
